“What if what we think changes the quality of what surrounds us? What if I cry and the river water overflows? So believes a Colombian tribe, who considers the earth as an immense woven matter of thoughts on which the Sun rests its life force. In the face of quantum physics, two particles that once contact each other thus continue whatever distance separates them in time and space.”

The GreenMan dance conference talks about the sensible relationship between body and landscape, between man and his territory. In its genesis, the research was based on the encounter with a specific landscape - of the Cévennes, South of France - and with some inhabitants of that same territory, who use their bodies as a tool to perceive landscape in their profession. The techniques developed by these same people are put in relation with somatic practices from different sources.

The result is a dance conference, which creates an intimacy with the audience and a specific relationship with the site. Each conference is redesigned in loco. At the moment of presentation, the interpreter welcomes somatic techniques in real time while exposing and developing the theme, from the perspective of a landscape architect, choreographer and a dancer.

As part of the “Body” project coordinated by Cansu Ergin, within the context of PORTIZIR4, Prazeres is going to realize two different dance conferences at the Church of St. Vukolos on November 11th, at 17:00 and 19:00.

The conferences are going to be in English and entrance is free of charge.

Pedro Prazeres

Having as a foundation the crossing and interweaving of the creative processes of two different professions: landscape architecture and choreography, the core of the artistic practice of Pedro Prazeres relies on the relationship between the place, the subject and the ethereal. After a degree in Landscape Architecture in Lisbon and Helsinki, his dance training in Dundee, Prague and Berlin and the MA program ex.e.r.ce at the National Choreographic Centre of Montpellier, he continues his artistic practice deepening this subject. He creates his own performances, collaborative and interpretation work, in national and international festivals, theatres and non-conventional and urban and rural landscapes. Furthermore, he is interested in how communication emerges from a relationship in empathy.
